Tolerant
We want to offer our employees opportunities for sustainable education and training, family planning and personal prosperity. With good ideas and competence, it is possible for every team member to take on responsibility - regardless of age, gender, handicap, skin colour, religious world view as well as sexual orientation and identity.
Responsible
GD Optics acts in a forward-looking and responsible manner in all corporate areas. We are committed to protecting nature and take ecological values and criteria into account along our entire value chain. We combine environmental protection and occupational safety in one hand.
Ambitious
Based on our experience to date, we are now setting ourselves even more ambitious goals. We will intensify our efforts and raise our own bar. The exclusive purchase of green electricity and the energy-sustainable management of processes are part of the programme.
Future-oriented
Compliance with our principles is ensured by our sustainability officer, and we are also planning to introduce a sustainability report for the coming business year.
Resource-conserving
Our company vehicles are all hybrids or fully electric. In our day-to-day work, we are pushing for an office that is as paperless as possible in order to conserve further resources
Sensitising
We only buy Fairtrade and organic products to provide our customers and employees with coffee and drinks.
Our path to C02 neutrality
We, too, know that climate neutrality is becoming increasingly important for our customers.
Even during the initial planning for our new building project, we were able to integrate numerous sustainability goals into the development plan.
With ten boreholes, each 100 meters deep, and two heat pumps, all production areas and offices are heated in winter and cooled in summer. The photovoltaic system installed on the roof of the production facility with an output of 99 kWp supplies us with green electricity. With triple glazing of the windows and a highly thermally insulated construction, maximum energy efficiency and cost savings are achieved.
Multiple use of resources
On the way to climate neutrality, GD Optics has converted its company cars to electric vehicles and offers eight charging stations on the premises. Two cisterns are used to collect surface water for further use, for example to irrigate the green areas and plantings on the site, which covers a total of 7,800 square meters. Once the cisterns are full, the water is discharged into the adjacent ditch, thus not polluting the surrounding canals.
Produce foresightedly
The wastewater generated during glass processing is pre-cleaned in the plant before it is discharged into the sewage system. For this purpose, we have installed a new wastewater treatment plant that filters out suspended solids. Our machines are also cooled by a cooling water cistern installed by us.
Advantages for people and the environment
The employees of GD Optics also benefit from numerous advantages that were taken into account in the course of the new building. For example, a covered bicycle parking area was built at the new location and the new ventilation system has a heat recovery system so that floor cooling in many rooms means that the operation of the existing air conditioning systems can be dispensed with.
Sustainability has always been an integral part of our corporate strategy.
Innovative technology is at the root of GD Optics and will continue to be the core element of its future.

We empower our clients to achieve sustainable growth and transform industries to save CO2 .
A recent study* shows that photonics has enormous CO2 saving potential, enabling at least eleven percent of the globally agreed CO2 savings by 2030. 1.1 billion tonnes less CO2 already today and three billion tonnes in 2030.

Photonics makes a significant contribution to achieving the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement - through reduced electricity consumption, CO2 emissions or fertilizer use, through material savings or due to new recycling processes and technologies for environmental protection.
